Privacy Rights Clearinghouse has been tracking reported data breaches since 2005. Over the years, our Data Breach Chronology project has transformed from a list of manually entered breaches to a robust database with an accompanying dashboard that provides visualizations and insights based on the database.
FREE AND UNLIMITED ACCESS TO DATA BREACH CHRONOLOGY DASHBOARD
We provide free access to the Data Breach Chronology Dashboard – an interactive visual dashboard that allows users to gain insights about data breaches reported in the United States, search, and access information available in the database.

We currently offer temporary download passes (subject to our Terms of Service) for our database and offer a substantial discount for academic use. Please note that all sales are final, and we do not offer refunds.
If you are unable to purchase for academic research or you work for a nonprofit or media outlet on a limited budget, please reach out to request a complimentary download. We are a small team and receive many requests. Therefore, we prioritize requests that align with Privacy Rights Clearinghouse's goals of increasing public understanding of privacy rights and issues and advancing accessible consumer privacy protections.

WHY CHARGE FEES TO ACCESS THE DATABASE?
Privacy Rights Clearinghouse is a non-profit organization committed to maintaining and improving this project over the long term. We fund as much of this project as possible with donations and grants. However, this is a resource-intensive project, and we ask that those who can pay to use our data do so to keep this project going and fund improvements and ongoing maintenance.
